Maker Faire

Hello everyone!

Kumo Juniors have been incredibly busy this weekend. The Centre for Life in Newcastle were putting on a 10 day event called the Science Fest. You can check out their website here.

[Incidentally the animation playing on their website was produced by none other than our Animation Studio, The Kumo Project!]

As part of Science Fest there was a two day Maker Faire on the 13th and 14th of March. Families could get involved in all manner of fun things such as Drawbots, Powertools drag racing, giant Tesla coils and a Rubix cube solving robot to name just a few.

Kumo Juniors also had a stall set up... anyone who fancied a go could jump in front of the camera and make a quick pixilation stop-frame animation of themselves.  It was great fun and we got a lot of brilliant footage and hopefully inspired a few new young animators. We'd like to share with you some of the images and footage we got from the day:

Here is our little stall set up, that bright green skeleton starred in a few animations...

And finally here is The Kumo Juniors Team looking happy but exhausted at the end of a long two days:

To everyone who participated, the editing of all the footage is happening soon! Everyone who did an animation that day and signed the online consent will be getting a link to a mini documentary of Kumo Junior's Maker Faire experience and will get to see the work they did again.

In the mean time, as a little bit of a taster, here's some tests we did of ourselves throughout the day:

Hope you enjoyed the Maker Faire and the little test film we made. Hopefully we will see you in a school or youth group soon!
